Axe / Hammer / Sword
ive been going around buying axes in ascalon and dunno which weapon to buy.
the axe skills i like because they got area effect liek cyclone. i love the bleeding by the sword but hammer is pretty stupid. since the only spells i got for hammer is like lose adrenaline and knock down and do 1+ damage. atm i got a fiery dragon sword like 13-18 , 6-19 axe ive noticed the axes are always 6 to watever and a 18-32 hammer. the hammer is damn strong and the sword would come in 2nd. so i duno which to get. what should i buy from 2k thats good? |

I've got a sword with 15-22 dmg. Someone said that 15-22 is max dmg for swords, is it true?
Anyhoo, i like swords best. |

max damage is as follows:
axe 6 - 28 sword 15 - 22 hammer 19 - 35 axe is best for fighting against foes which dont have tough armour, e.g. plant monsters, sword is best for PvP because it works better against tougher armour, might not do as much critical damage as axe tho but its much more versatile in its range of skills hammer is good if you want to save wasting attributes on shields for tactics or strength, its great for interrupts with the knockdowns, leaves u more vulnerable to taking more damage. and also blunt damage is good vs ice elementals. there is no 'perfect' choice, like everything else in guild wars, has its strengths and weaknesses |

Adding on to above post
Im mr axe Axe medium mode is as fast as swords but is less versatile as guys states above. got some nices moves and a good all rounder Swords is like w/mo..everyone is one due to the wounding effects and the flame swords atttraction. in my view the easy option of weapons Hammer - respect to these guys - hard mode - slow but heavy hitting, less defence but some nice interrupts - ie wait for monk to raise hand or move in spell form and smack that on em. My view anyways - advice is how do u wanna play? all got plus and minuses |

My two cents as well...
I like swords since the adrenaline skills usually have a pretty quick build up time. Because of this, you can use those skills much quicker in an engagement and more often. Axes take significantly longer to build up the adrenaline so you can't use it as often. Haven't used hammers but those skills seem to take even longer than axes. The drawback with swords though is that it seems that most of those skills are built around causing bloody wounds in your opponents. This is all well and good against critters that bleed, but there are a lot of things out there that don't. Namely those omnipresent Golems and the undead. Can't use those adrenaline skills against these. Axe skills (as far as I've noticed) fully affect those non-fleshy critters. Swords are are also good due to the average damage that they do is much higher than that of an axe. Axes have a higher top end (28 I think) but the low end is really quite low (6). This gives an average dmg of 17, whereas swords are around 15-22 (correct me if I'm wrong here) giving an average of 18.5. But these are all just numbers. I still use an axe cause I like the way it looks and I love nailing mutliple opponents at once with Cyclone Axe. It still comes down to a matter of taste. I am Mr. Hammer Warrior!
I love the hammers. You get to run up to a caster and knock'em on there butt when they are about to cast. And buy knock'em on their butt, I am talking about knocking'em down for about 5 seconds. Thats right, 5 seconds, immobile. Natta, nothing. Sit and die. You can do this easily by using backbreaker (elite) and stonefist gaunts. Then when they get back up, since I have my shout on me (or berserkers stance which makes me attack faster while you are doing nothing) building my adrenaline I have hammer bash waiting to be used - so they are nocked down for another 2 seconds. PLus, each time I knock'em down I use aftershock when I have the mana and hit em for around 100. However, I am in now way negating sword warriors. Just think how nifty it would be - me keeping you down, and a sword warrior keeping you bleeding doing nothing else for those 7 seconds. Priceless.... Axes - I dont know much about them so I will plead ignorance and one of you can edumacate me and tell me why they are superior and I am wrong. Shmash! Ps - Pretty sure hammers have a cyclone like attack - I could be wrong though. |

I steer clear of engergy usage skills if i can
That way i got 2 modes of attack with my w/e Using adrenaline based skills and engergy for the magics. Axe has a wound and stuff at higher levels but not a great as the sword ones. Axes are the heavy dmg version of swords, but slower and lessa bout wounding just more out and out die die! So no one is better than other just preference mr hammer im afraid. Not many axe guys around mainly swords coz their so easy to pick up and play and dont take much to use em. Thought process - Swords - click click click hey no fair im dead Axe is the middle have to think a bit weapons - more a kill! die! take this, ok how bout this... Hammer is thinking mans weapon, kill kill kill everyone muhahahha - is all they think |
